For a fast restart. (Windows XP)
When you are asked to restart your PC after installing new software or even updating your ../software/firewalls.html">firewall, there is a way to get Windows XP to make a restart without shutting down your system and restarting. Click on the Start Menu, then on Shutdown. Select Restart and hold down the "shift" key before you click on OK. Doing it this way will restart Windows XP without shutting down your whole system.
To simultaneously minimize all your windowed (or full screen) programs. (Windows 95 and Windows 98)
Right click on the Windows Taskbar and select Minimize all Windows.
To reset the time and/or date. (Windows 95 and Windows 98)
Double click on the clock displayed in the Windows Taskbar and change options as required.
To clear the list of Documents folder on the Start menu. (Windows 95 and Windows 98)
Right click on the Windows Taskbar and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. Click on the Start Menu's Programs tab. Click on the Clear button.
Display today's date. (Windows 95 and Windows 98)
Rest the mouse pointer over the clock (displayed within the Window Taskbar) for a couple of seconds.
To 'Autohide' the Taskbar. (Windows 95 and Windows 98)
Right click on the Taskbar and select Properties. Select the Taskbar Options tab. Select Autohide and click on the OK button. The Taskbar will disappear. To re-display the Taskbar, move the mouse pointer to the edge of the screen.
To see how long you have been online. (Windows 95 and Windows 98)
Double click on the connection icon in the Windows Taskbar and a pop-up menu will display the duration of your current call.
To dock the Windows Taskbar at the top (or the side) of the screen. (Windows 95 and Windows 98)
Drag and drop the Taskbar to the top or side of the screen, as required.
